The Matrix Debate

    Choosing between the red and blue pill is a choice that will change your life forever. Deciding to pick one over the other is greatly impacted by who you are as a person and how you can change the world. As someone who is not a strong willed person I do not believe taking the red pill would be the right choice for me. In order for someone to take the red pill they need to be confident in who they are and strong enough to do what is necessary in order to defeat the robots. The red pill allows the person who takes it to have free will but it also puts them right into the middle of the fight. Morpheus very strategically picks who he offers the red pill to and he chooses those with strong minds who can handle going back into the matrix knowing what it truly is. There are many people who would not be strong enough to do this. Many people's minds would collapse going back into the matrix knowing it was all fake. The blue pill allows those who are not ready and not strong enough to fight to continue to live there life in peace. If I was Nio at the time Morpheus asked me pick a pill I would take I would chose the blue pill. I would take the blue pill not necessarily because I want to live in ignorance but because I do not know I can trust Morpheus. There are a lot of questions Nio has at that point in the movie and I would rather discover the truth myself than allow someone else to manipulate my perspective of the truth. The blue pill allows those who are not strong enough to fight to live happily. The red pill was designed for the mentally strong who are not happy with their current live and want to know what else is out there. For those of us who have a family, have great friends, and are happy with our lives we are willing to live in ignorance if it means we get to hang on to the love we have for just a little bit longer. Choosing the blue pill does not mean ignorance but it means the life you are living now is one you are happy with and want to continue.

The Love, Death, + Robots episode I liked the most was Zima Blue . The reason I liked this episode so much was because of the symbolism of simplicity. Zima's murals start out as these complex art works of space. He then adds a blue square in the center of the art. This simple square is surrounded by complex space but the square is the one thing which stands out most to the people. As Zima gets more famous and starts to explore the cosmos his art becomes more and more of the simple blue square. He allows the simplicity of the color "Zima Blue" to take over his art. In the end Zima is a complex robot who has explored all the universe has to offer. After becoming the most complex organism, Zima decided to go back to his most simple form for his final piece of art. He has learned the simplicity of life is much more valuable than the most complex form. Hon 255 Final Thoughts

 I have really enjoyed this class. It really pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me think about all different sorts of things. I got to see the perspective of all different types of majors and personalities which to me is the most important thing when learning. Being able to compare my major to topics that had nothing to do with my major taught me so many different things. I was able to see how my major impacted different aspects of life and how movies impacted my major. Approaching the topic of AI and futuristic technology was difficult at times but always interesting. I'm excited to see how I use this class in the future and to see where our future technology actually goes after watching all these movies.

Final Project

 The movie we chose for our final project was WALL-E. As a group we want to explore the possibilities of the plot of WALL-E becoming our future. With the way climate change and garbage is piling up our future could very easily be the same plot. There are also a lot more advancements in artificial intelligence that could lead to more lazy humans and more reliability on AI. We wanted to add a 3D aspect to our poster to make it stick out. We also added the plant surrounded by garbage to show how there is still hope for our future. Just like in the movie, finding the plant brings hope to the humans that they will be able to live on earth once again. WALL-E really shows how even if we have a good life in space, nothing can beat walking around on earth and breathing fresh air.
